So let's talk about Disney POWER-mixers......

HI RIFFERS!!
work it!
sell it!
get it!
yeah, uh huh, work it out!

ha

Okay, so first things first...i need to apologize for my absence from the show, the belting was a little too much for me, and by belting, i mean blogging, but you already knew that DUUUHHH :)

Yeah, i have been super busy!!! I mean voice lessons with Patti Lupone, shopping with Mandy Patinkin, sushi with Angela Lansbury...etc etc...ya know, THE LIFE OF A BROADWAY STAR.. ;) loollllll

but never fear. I'm here (color purple anyone?) and i am telling you, i'm not going (effie?) because this is the moment (Frank Wildhorn?) and i'm the KING OF THE WORLD!!! (songs for a new world fierce)

Okay so here is the topic: Disney. Power-Mixing.

i hope you are as excited as I am about it!

ps-Emily Nicole Hawkins and Rachel Grave Van Marter, this one's for you! ;)

I have aaalllllllwayyyssss loved disney. Duh! Who doesn't? That's our childhood memories, that is our roots....it's just...BROADWAY. But like, it really is! They are animated movie musicals, that basically follow the same format as a musical so...which is why they translate soooo perfectly on stage (Lion King, Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast etc alan menken etc..

BUT what is the most important part of a disney movie...is how fierce the lead, sassy girl’s song is. Because, let's be real...THEY ARE GOOD FUCKING SONGS!!!!
Part of your world: Fierce.
I won't say i'm in love: Fierce.
Reflection: Fierce.THE LIST GOES ON AND ON!!!!!!

But let's be clear. Those disney girls are stars, and are all stunning broadway stars and whatnot. BUT
None of them are really BELTERS.
They just aren't (Except the fierce black one, but she is too new!)

AND YOU KNOW WHAT!? that is totally fine! IT IS!! I hate to admit it, but if we just had only belters on earth...it would get old. (SORRY AJA, SORRY CAISSIE!)
We NEED other people.

I know everyone thinks all i care about are Belters, BUT that's NOT TRUE!!! I love power-mixers!!

Power Mixer- noun or verb- Female MT's whose singing operates solely in their mixed voice. Even when their ranges can support singing in head or chest voice, Power Mixes ignore that and choose to mix everything. This gives the desired effect of having no break in one's voice and as of recent contemporary musical theatre composing Power Mixers have been in great demand. Beware, a Power Mixer can fool you into thinking that she is belting or using her head voice; but with a trained MT ear one can soon spot Power Mixers of all strength and quality.

Anyway, disney power-mixing is on my brain tonight and i think i should use this blog to celebrate the broadwayness of their songs.
Now, I would go through every Disney Power-mixer known to mankind and dissect and analyze the fiercness of their power-mixing…but that would take a lot of my time, and wasting time is not equity. So I just wont.
But I will highlight the best of the best here we go:
Ariel (The Little Mermaid, as sung by Jodi Benson.) Ok, Ariel is like, sooooo fierce. She’s this hot ginger mermaid, who has the hottest body, wears a bikini 24/7, and she likes playing with “things.” WHAT GUY DOESN’T LIKE THAT?!?!? Part of your world is so legit, and she has this incredible brightness to her tone that I’m obsessed with. “BRIGHT YOUNG WOMEN, SICK OF SWIMMING, READY TO STAND!”

Meg (Hercules, as sung by Susan Egan.) Meg is among the sassiest of the bunch, like this girl works it, and just reeks of sex appeal. First of all, love her getup, the dress is fab. And, I love her funky ponytail. She’s fucking brillz. Second, not only does she power-mix (almost to the point of belting.) the SHIT out of her song, BUT, she has a chorus black stunner belterz, who are always sellin it. She is so conflicted, I’m obsessed. I won’t say I’m in love is broadway.

Jasmine (Aladdin, as sung by Lea Salonga.) Ugh. Love Jasmine. How dare she be so exotic and luxurious, how dare she live in the fiercest crib, and how dare she casually have a tiger as a pet?!?!?! HOW DARE SHE?!?!?! She is legit. And when she’s on the magic carpet with her boo during a whole new world…omg…her voice. Lea Salonga (REPRESENT BROADWAY, GET IT!) sings the part perfectly. Way to go Lea.

Pocahontas (Pocahontas (PS HOW DARE SHE AND MULAN HAVE THEIR NAMES BE THE TITLE OF THEIR MOVIES, HOW BROADWAY OF THEM!) as sung by Judy Kuhn.)THE FIERCEST IN MY OPINION. I LOVE THIS CHICK, SHE CAN SING TO ME ANYTIME. FOR REAL. %$#Q%$?T$GRE%$#TY%$#!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love herrrrrrr. Not only is she stunning, but she not one, but TWO ammmmaaaazzzzzing songs that are so next stop broadway!!! Why hasn’t Pocahontas gone broadway??? SOMEBODY BETTER GET ON THAT!

Mulan (Mulan, as sung by Lea Salonga (SHE POWER-MIXES IN 2 DISNEY MOVIES, THAT'S SUPER FIERCE!)) Asian and FIERCE. Enough said.

Ok, wow that was fun.
Just curious, what do you fiercies think? Who is the best Disney Power-mixer?!?!
So, that’s all for now. I must go and prepare for the final days of my FRESHMAN YEAAARR!!! AHHHHHH, it’s insane, I can’t deal, too much.
Love you allllll so much. I’ll try to get back to the blogging more frequently. i missed this.

supercalifragilisticexpialiBROADWAY...

Hello all!

i haven't posted a blog in...a couple days!!!!! *Gasp* I KNOW RIGHT?!?!?!?! i must be slacking.

Today's blog isn't inspired by anything, i just wanted to update everyone because doing 8 shows a week can LITTERALLY take over one's social life. tragic, i know. I have been chilaxing and enjoying a lot of free time with my crew, and i will be honest, it is making me super sad.

This year is practically over. The closing notice is posted on the stagedoor of the theater. I am freaking out. OF COURSE i will be excited to go home and see my kitty friend lauryn, and my mom, but ccpa belterz are going to be HELLA MISSED. for real.

It is weird because first semester things were so strange. Everybody was still figuring their shit out. Who are my friends? Do i like college? Am i soprano 2, or alto 1? ALOT OF CONFUSION. And then shit went down. AND THINGS CHANGED.

I started hanging out with people that i NEVER thought i would be friends with (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE) and life started making sense. I finally felt at home with my group, and we all seem to have this chemistry that is soooo overwhelmingly broadway. The memories so far from second semester are memories that i will NEVER forget, and it is sad that after this year, things will never be the same.

I don't like that.

anyway, i am not going to be all sentimental on a thursday. TACKY.

change of sybject...I AM WRITING A BOOK! i know, it sounds ridiculous, but honestly i think i could write a good motherfucking book. A fierce guide to broadway. I NEED YOUR HELP. what should i write about? what do you guys want in it? TELL ME MORE, TELL ME MORE LIKE DOES HE HAVE A CAR?

i am very excited about it, as should you. lol.

love you fierce bitchez.

It's her party and she'll cry if she wants to....

GREETINGS. So today is my friend Katie's broadway birthday...SHE IS 19....sooooo....
this is a shout out to you girl!!!!!! i loveee youuuuuuu!!!!! get it

so i started thinking about birthdays.
They are obvi fierce. DOOIIIII!!!! I love the day of my birth because, well, i was born on that day :) However, when we celebrate our birthdays, we are celebrating becoming a year older. Here is my problem with that...Getting old is NOT broadway. I want to stay young forever like in "Tuck Everlasting!" Cause dying is scary, and i shouldn't have to go through it. I REFUSE! SO THERE! i just won't die. Maybe someone will invent a magical pill that makes you live FOREVVEERRR!!!! mwahahahahah...i mean apparently we can talk to our computers nowadays... wah wah waahhh

so in honor of katie...i decided to look up which famous broadway hollywood belter people shared her birthday:

REESE WITHERSPOON IS SUUUPPEERRR BROADWAY. Amazing in legally blonde, and walk the line. And. is. STUNNING. get it Reese.

Stephanie Mills is a gramy award winning artist, who was ALSO the original Dorothy in "The Wiz" on Broadway......BROADWAY YES BELT. Have you people heard her sing home???? fierce you guys....

come on people...ITS SONDHEIM...work!

This man has wrote the music and lyrics to some of the fiercest and cheesetastic broadway show in history. good for you broadway :)

so in conclusion kitties,

it is katie's birthday. Therefore, it's broadway's birthday.

LOVE YOU GIRL

First of all, i need to clear up an issue that has arisen from my second blog post. Obviously there is always drama in broadway, but THIS kind of drama, is not fierce. not at all...

In my second blog post, i mentioned a couple people that are extremley important and have recently made a major impact in my life.

I unfortunatley, left out A LOT of people, including people that are super important

I LOVE HIM TO DEATH AND HE MEANS THE WORLD TO ME. He makes me laugh and i appreciate the shit out of him. GAVIN: i am sorry i left you out. please forgive me.

SECOND, i left out a lot of my classmates from CCPA. Let me make something very clear: i LOVE each and everyone of my classmates. BROADWAY OUT!

So there was a BELTER named Caissie Levy....

Okay i know i just started my fierce broadway blog yesterday, and i have already posted 2 posts, but honestly, i don't really care. I WILL POST AS MANY AS I WANT! and i don't care what the critics say...I'll belt where and when ever i want. SO THERE.

i just would like to quickly like to add a young lady beltress to my list of muses...this bitch is literally the fiercest lesbian belter bitch ever. She is not only a superstar, BUT she is funny as hell, and has a great rack. I mean, there could only be one girl to play this part:

Janie Motherfucking Heck. Get some lezzy fiercie!

Anyway, the reason i felt inclined to post another blog posting is because i have spent most of today on youtube, OF COURSE, watching fabulous people belt. Thank god for youtube, i mean come on...WHERE ELSE CAN YOU WATCH EVERY TONY AWARD PERFORMANCE FROM THE PAST 20ISH YEARS??? LIFETIME? i don't think so...

ANYWAY, There is one particular actress that is literally, in my opinion, THE FIERCEST BELTER EVER. Now, seeing as how i have a PHD in Broadway Belting, the fact that i have selected her is kind of big deal...

if you don't already adore her, or aren't already OBSESSED with her, you people need to look up CAISSIE LEVY!

her bio below:
Levy's big break came when she played the role of Penny Pingleton in both the Broadway and U.S. national tour companies of Hairspray after understudying the role in the Toronto company. She also played the role of Maureen Johnson in the U.S. national tour of Rent.Levy starred as Elphaba in the Los Angeles company of Wicked after understudying the role on Broadway and serving as standby in Los Angeles for a short period.[2] Her first performance was on January 1, 2008, replacing Eden Espinosa. She departed the show on May 11, 2008 and was replaced by Teal Wicks.Levy recently starred as Sheila in the Broadway revival of Hair, which began previews on March 6, 2009 and opened March 31, 2009 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.[3] She left the Broadway cast on March 7, 2010, where she was succeeded by Diana Degarmo, to open the West End revival which will begin performance April 1 at the Gielgud Theatre.

She is my girlfriend. obviously she is not. but in my broadway fantasy world, she is. Also, in my fantasy, i belt just like her :)

Not only does she sing all over youtube, being uber fierce, BUT she played elphaba, and in my opinion she is the best. I mean, Idina IS Elphaba, but Caissie is soooo simillar. She is such a pingy belter and i loooovvvvvveeeeeee it. ALSO she recently starred in HAIR as sheila, and her "Easy to be Hard" is breathtaking. When i saw the show for the first time, i was in tears during that song because her acting choices are FLAWLESS. I am also inspired by her cool "hippie" vibe! She is so down to earth, and SUPER nice. What i love about her belt, is that her tone is so solid. She is so on the note it is mind blowing...When she belts high, like in wicked, its pingy and forward and fierce. When she is belting lower like in hair, it's rich and creamy and fantastic. ALSO, she is an incredible riffer. White girls who riff impress the shit out of me. Black people are born with it, to them, it's like hair, you just have it. Aja is one of those girls. She riffs while she sleeps, she riffs while she eats, she riffs while she poops. SHE RIFFS YOU GUYS. CAISSIE AND AJA ARE GOING TO RIFF THEIR WAY TO PRESIDENCY!!!!

Okay i need to stop posting blogs for a little, because, i have all this stupid work to do. Oh well, hopefully it will be worth it, and when i am playing Simba in the lion king, i will say "Thank you belinda bremner for giving me sooooo much work!!"

HAPPY SPRING
BROADWAY OUT

The cast of my blog-way show!!!

so this is my second blog, and i am pretty pumped about it. i got fierce feedback about the first posting, and so i am inspired to write another one. Last night me and the cast of my life went to this par-tay and got a little too broadway. And by broadway, i mean drunk.

I want to say it was classy, equity drunk...but sadly, it wasn't. But that's okay cause it is still spring break. I just feel so unmotivated to do anything this morning. AND ITS SNOWING, PEOPLE!!!!! RUDE

ps, check this girl out, she sort of reminds me of nat weiss, except fresher and less busted but more mixy...a good mix is fine once in a while for sure...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWavmYCrCG8

so i should probably mention some people. like people who are fierce and need to be mentioned. These people inspire the shit out of me, and are not only my best friends, but they are my broadway family :)

FIRST OF ALL, I MUST INTRODUCE MY MUSES. The five beautiful and talented girls that overwhelming me with their talent and passion. its a big deal.

Aja- Where to begin................SHE BELTS FOR BREAKFAST YOU GUYS!!!!!MY BEST FRIEND AJA BELTS LIKE IT IS HER FULL TIME JOB. i love this girl, she is my sister, my girlfriend, my boyfriend, my mom, my monkey, my rock, everything. How dare she be so smart, so talented, so pretty, AND SO CLUMSY AND MESSY all at the same time. im convinced she is an alien from belter-space...

Haley S- Haley S is such a crazy alien legit soprano biotch, and she scares me/angers me/hurts me/loves me all at the same time. She is cracked out barbie and i love it. how dare she be such a legit soprano warrior and then be a mean selfish crazy person, but like, someone that i want to hang out with at the same time. And this girl works...she isn't a belter (although i have heard her dabble with some belty stuff and it of course fierce) however, she is the soprano president. YES!

Haylee C-sassy belter, sassy belter, sassy belter. I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS GIRL'S SASSY WAYS. She is sooooo down to earth, but like...fierce. She makes me laugh like it is her job. SHE IS MUCHO TALENTED, AND HAS SOOOO MUCH LOVE FOR HER FRIENDS. GET IT HAYLEEEEE

Danielle- Fierce. What else is there to say? She EMBODIES the word. everything about her. She is so versatile. AND JUST FIERCE. bad ass belter, with a soprano, could be multi-ethnic, and knows how to work her shit. SHE IS ALSO SASSY AND LOVES IT.

Gianna- The most interesting, beautiful, inteligent, romantic, graceful, cultured, talented girl in the whole wide world. Im obsessed with her vibes, her look, her HAIR. she is just so inspiring it makes me sick. love u.

AND NOW....THE BOYS OF MY LIFE....

Mario- jfgfguw%$#T@GT@G#HTGARG@#@#%$%Y$HGTEWFRWG.....MARIO HAS CHANGED MY LIFE. In many ways, good and bad...I have never felt more connected to someone in my life. He brings out the best and worst in me, as i do to him aswell. We are in eachother's head at all times and it is crazy legit. he is talented, quirky, weird, rude, lovable all at the same time. I love that motherfucker with all my heart.

Tony-My dad, My Brother, my...whatever you wanna call him. Everyone can agree that Tony is SUPER fierce...i have met a lot of fierce people in my 18 years on this planet...and tony is among the fiercest...he is just so, cool. That is probably the best way to sum him up. COOL. i <3 tony and he is the best best best!

Justin W- Gay! JUSTIN IS GAAAAYYYYY...he actually isn't but if he was i would tap that toooo fast. i love justin because i can be myself around him, and vice versa, and he is so precious and goofy and funny and stupid and i LOVE IT. idiot <3 :)

This is a cold reading...

okay so i'm blogging now, and it's pretty exciting. So where to start... How does one begin a blog? Do i just start writing and follow my heart and let the words just come out? I NEED A TOPIC!! I NEED A PURPOSE!!

i have one purpose:

B R O A D W A Y

let me explain. i am not a freak. well i mean, i am. Some call me obsessive, but i just really love Broadway, i love the spectacle, i love the talent, the glamour, the drama, the passion. It is for sure awesome to be on broadWAY. I hope to one day be apart of the broadway culture, with my diet coke and my daily workouts, and my high b's. I hope to be belting my face off in green, or doing fosse in black, or tribal belting about the circle of life. SO MUCH BROADWAY. good.

so before i take you on this journey... a couple vocab words:
FIERCE-adjective describing anything that is interesting, exciting, inspiring, idina, broadway etc
BELT: A tecnique only given to the privledged few who deserve it. overwhelming, a lot of sound, aja etc...
WORK-what we do. WE WORK. we have to. just do it. just work.
YES-good for you!!!!!!!!
GET IT (GET SOME)-whatever you want, you better get it, cause if you don't, you are OFF broadway.

AHHHH so many things to mention, so little time...
I don't know how often ill be blogging. or if anyone is going to read this...but please do!

broadway out bitchez
