Okay i know i just started my fierce broadway blog yesterday, and i have already posted 2 posts, but honestly, i don't really care. I WILL POST AS MANY AS I WANT! and i don't care what the critics say...I'll belt where and when ever i want. SO THERE.
i just would like to quickly like to add a young lady beltress to my list of muses...this bitch is literally the fiercest lesbian belter bitch ever. She is not only a superstar, BUT she is funny as hell, and has a great rack. I mean, there could only be one girl to play this part:
Janie Motherfucking Heck. Get some lezzy fiercie!
Anyway, the reason i felt inclined to post another blog posting is because i have spent most of today on youtube, OF COURSE, watching fabulous people belt. Thank god for youtube, i mean come on...WHERE ELSE CAN YOU WATCH EVERY TONY AWARD PERFORMANCE FROM THE PAST 20ISH YEARS??? LIFETIME? i don't think so...
ANYWAY, There is one particular actress that is literally, in my opinion, THE FIERCEST BELTER EVER. Now, seeing as how i have a PHD in Broadway Belting, the fact that i have selected her is kind of big deal...
if you don't already adore her, or aren't already OBSESSED with her, you people need to look up CAISSIE LEVY!
her bio below:
Levy's big break came when she played the role of Penny Pingleton in both the Broadway and U.S. national tour companies of Hairspray after understudying the role in the Toronto company. She also played the role of Maureen Johnson in the U.S. national tour of Rent.Levy starred as Elphaba in the Los Angeles company of Wicked after understudying the role on Broadway and serving as standby in Los Angeles for a short period.[2] Her first performance was on January 1, 2008, replacing Eden Espinosa. She departed the show on May 11, 2008 and was replaced by Teal Wicks.Levy recently starred as Sheila in the Broadway revival of Hair, which began previews on March 6, 2009 and opened March 31, 2009 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.[3] She left the Broadway cast on March 7, 2010, where she was succeeded by Diana Degarmo, to open the West End revival which will begin performance April 1 at the Gielgud Theatre.
She is my girlfriend. obviously she is not. but in my broadway fantasy world, she is. Also, in my fantasy, i belt just like her :)
Not only does she sing all over youtube, being uber fierce, BUT she played elphaba, and in my opinion she is the best. I mean, Idina IS Elphaba, but Caissie is soooo simillar. She is such a pingy belter and i loooovvvvvveeeeeee it. ALSO she recently starred in HAIR as sheila, and her "Easy to be Hard" is breathtaking. When i saw the show for the first time, i was in tears during that song because her acting choices are FLAWLESS. I am also inspired by her cool "hippie" vibe! She is so down to earth, and SUPER nice. What i love about her belt, is that her tone is so solid. She is so on the note it is mind blowing...When she belts high, like in wicked, its pingy and forward and fierce. When she is belting lower like in hair, it's rich and creamy and fantastic. ALSO, she is an incredible riffer. White girls who riff impress the shit out of me. Black people are born with it, to them, it's like hair, you just have it. Aja is one of those girls. She riffs while she sleeps, she riffs while she eats, she riffs while she poops. SHE RIFFS YOU GUYS. CAISSIE AND AJA ARE GOING TO RIFF THEIR WAY TO PRESIDENCY!!!!
Okay i need to stop posting blogs for a little, because, i have all this stupid work to do. Oh well, hopefully it will be worth it, and when i am playing Simba in the lion king, i will say "Thank you belinda bremner for giving me sooooo much work!!"
HAPPY SPRING
BROADWAY OUT
